Our Story:
From Childhood Road Trips
to Wonder Park family ®
For both Brett and Megan, the love of adventure started young.
Megan grew up exploring the coasts of North Carolina and Florida in an RV with her parents. Those family trips sparked her sense of curiosity and wonder, showing her how travel could bring families closer together. As a family, they would meander through small towns, going fishing and shrimping, searching for snail shells, and walking on the beaches.
Brett’s childhood adventures looked a little different but carried the same spirit of discovery. His parents and grandmother, who they lovingly called Gron, would plan epic annual summer roadtrips. Gron, a former English teacher and librarian, had a gift for making each journey come alive. She created binders filled with pamphlets, stories, activities, and games to keep the kids not only entertained but also learning about the places they would soon explore. For Brett, those binders weren’t just road trip survival kits—they were sparks that lit a lifelong love of learning, travel, and adventure.
Years later, when Brett and Megan became parents themselves, they wanted to carry on that tradition. Inspired by Gron’s binders, they began creating their own adventure guides for their kids. Part of it was practical—avoiding the dreaded “Are we there yet?” and “I’m bored”—but a bigger part was about helping their children understand the destination before they even arrived. These guides gave their kids something to look forward to, sparked anticipation, and helped them truly be present when they got there.
And so, Wonder Park Family® was born.

Educators Turned Adventure
Makers
Between their childhood adventures and starting Wonder Park®, Brett and Megan spent years as high school teachers. Trained in pedagogy, they knew how to spark curiosity through phenomenon-based questions, inquiry, and engaging extension activities.
But they didn’t want Wonder Park Family ® to feel like school. These guides were never meant to be worksheets or homework—they were built to be fun, colorful, and portable. Each activity is short, hands-on, and designed with kids (and parents) in mind.
Families can use everyday items to complete them, whether at home, in the car, or at the park itself. The result? Books that are easy for parents, irresistible for kids, and packed with meaningful learning that feels like play.
Helping families learn, explore, and appreciate the world,
one adventure at a time.
Brett
Former tech ed teacher, entrepreneur, and builder of experiences—making outdoor adventures practical, educational, and unforgettable for families.
Brett Hines is a career and technology educator, community advocate, and entrepreneur with a passion for helping families thrive. As a CTE High School Teacher, he taught hands-on construction, business, and agriculture, guiding students toward meaningful career paths. Beyond the classroom, Brett founded several successful businesses—including a farm, a meadery, and an award-winning juice bar—that all reflect his deep commitment to local community and sustainability.
As a father, Brett discovered the magic of traveling with his kids: the way a hike, a hidden trail, or a campsite can spark curiosity and joy. Inspired by these experiences, he co-created the Wonder Park Family Adventure Guide book series to make exploring national parks and family destinations fun, educational, and accessible. His mission is simple—empower families to adventure together while building stronger connections to each other and the world around them.
Megan
Former science educator turned family adventure guide—helping kids discover nature’s wonders through hands-on exploration and conservation.
Megan Hines is a former high school science teacher, lifelong explorer, and mama who believes the best classroom has no walls. Growing up with a father who was a charter boat captain, Megan spent her childhood on the water and on the road—driving down the East Coast with her parents in the family’s old camper. Those early adventures sparked her love of the ocean, the outdoors, and the wonder of discovery that she now shares with her own kids. In her years of teaching biology and environmental science, she saw how curiosity could transform students—how a single spark of wonder could turn into a lasting commitment to care for the planet.
As a parent, Megan brings that same philosophy to her family’s adventures. Whether splashing in the waves at the OSV at Assateague, hiking through forests, or exploring the depths of a national park cave, she sees each trip as a chance to raise kids who ask questions, think critically, and fall in love with the natural world.
Inspired by those moments, Megan co-created the Wonder Park Family Adventure Guide series to make science, exploration, and conservation fun for every family. Her mission is simple: help kids see the world as an adventure worth protecting—and empower families to build lasting memories together along the way
